ABOUT LYSISTRATA PROJECT

Fearful of the Bush administration’s unchecked march to war and sparked by the mainstream media’s lack of attention to anti-war activity, Kathryn Blume and co-founder Sharron Bower created the Lysistrata Project, a worldwide theatrical act of dissent.

Organized in just two months, Blume and Bower built an unprecedented movement, culminating on March 3, 2003 in over 1000 readings of the ancient Greek anti-war comedy Lysistrata in 59 countries and all 50 states. Lysistrata Project received wide-spread international press coverage, reached over 200,000 people, and raised over $100,000 for peace-oriented charities.
